DISQUALIFICATION OF TAMMY J. GARCIA AS A CANDIDATE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 3
MIDVALE CITY, UTAH

This public notice serves to inform the residents of Midvale City that Tammy J. Garcia has been disqualified as a candidate for Council District 3 in Midvale City, Utah. The disqualification is a result of Ms. Garcia's failure to comply with Utah State Code Section 10-3-208, which pertains to campaign finance disclosure in municipal elections.

The deadline for timely filing the campaign financial statement was set for Tuesday, October 24, 2023, by 5:00 p.m. As provided by state law, Ms. Garcia had an additional 24-hour grace period to submit her campaign financial statement before she would be disqualified from the election. Ms. Garcia failed to file her campaign finance statement by the deadline and within this grace period.

Ms. Garcia was duly notified of the campaign financial statement requirements at the time of declaring her candidacy. Additionally, several attempts were made to contact Ms. Garcia via the information she provided at the time of her declaration of candidacy before the deadline.

Due to this disqualification, any votes cast for Tammy J. Garcia in Council District 3 in Midvale City will not be counted. Midvale City has opted for Ranked Choice Voting as its election process, and consequently, any ballots with Tammy J. Garcia as the first choice will be immediately transferred to the voter's second choice as per the established electoral procedures.
